FIOD 80 Years: United Against Fiscal and Financial Crime

On September 20, 2025, the FIOD celebrates its 80th anniversary. What began as a small service in post-war Netherlands has grown into an internationally operating investigative organization with a strong reputation in combating financial and fiscal crime.

From restoring fiscal order in 1945 to tackling money laundering, VAT carousel fraud, and violations of international sanctions laws — the FIOD has evolved over time. Innovation, collaboration and societal impact are at the heart of our work. Major cases, technological advancements and cross-border cooperation have shaped the organization into what it is today: an adaptive, expert, and proud institution committed every day to a fairer and financially resilient Netherlands.
