FIOD Hosts International Investigation Week: J5 Cyber Challenge 2025

Last week, the Dutch Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Service (FIOD) hosted the seventh edition of the J5 Challenge on behalf of the Joint Chiefs of Global Tax Enforcement (J5). During this international investigation week, tax investigators, data analysts, and crypto experts from the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States worked together to detect cross-border tax fraud.

This year’s focus was on signals from the dark web, transnational organized crime, crypto assets, and identity fraud. Dutch experts concentrated on digital money flows, based on data provided by FIOD’s Crypto Analysis Team (CAT).

One signal that was addressed during a previous challenge concerns OmegaPro. The founder and promoter of OmegaPro has been charged with running a global fraud scheme involving foreign currency and crypto investments.

The J5 was established in 2018 as a partnership between five countries to jointly combat international financial and tax crime. By sharing data and expertise internationally, the participating agencies generate actionable leads for criminal investigations.
